Influence of calcium concentrations on the metabolic profile of dairy goats during the transitional period

In order to differentiate groups of hypocalcemic (G1) and normocalcemic animals (G2) infer the influence subclinical hypocalcemia on metabolic profiles, this study determined calcium concentrations during transitional period in 35 dairy goats healthy, pregnant, primiparous or multiparous, crossbreed pure-bred producing average 3 kg/day/goat. Therefore, blood samples were collected before (30, 20 10 days parturition), day delivery after parturition (10, 20, 30, 40, 50 60 postpartum). The variables measured glucose, nonesterified fatty acids, β-hydroxybutyrate, cholesterol, triglycerides, amylase, total protein, albumin, urea, creatinine, aspartate aminotransferase, gamma glutamyl transferase, creatine kinase, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, chlorides, cortisol insulin, as well ionized (Ca++), sodium potassium. Goats considered have if Ca++ ≤0.72 mmol/L. data analyzed by ANOVA. subclinically goats, serum decreased earlier (10dbp) than (parturition) remained lower throughout (p=0,004). Among variables, showed greater NEFA, insulin but also influenced protein profile. Lower food intake with was one main factors interfering profile likely productivity these animals.
